This resonates.
And it makes me so sad.

This movie gives me such strange feelings.

I was a pageant girl in Olive’s style. Didn’t have the hair and makeup and I had a huge “little girl belly” as my mom called it.
We’d celebrate my 10th runner up trophy win with Haagen Daaz, my one expensive ice cream treat a year.

Pageants made me feel beautiful and everyone gets a trophy and a medal. Even when you don’t look like the other girls, all fancy, if you have the right support team, you’re golden. The dads loved me especially.

There is ALWAYS a group of dads, color gone from their skin, sickened by the painted little girls, and my daddy would walk me by in my Goodwill pageant dress with my hair in a little bun he did. They’d congratulate me and tell me I was the prettiest one there.

Pageants aren’t as awful as you think, it’s the moms. Most of the little girls in the fancy get-ups cried to go home and the girls like me were like YES! A weekend of playing dress up AND I can win money for college!

Maybe itas just a southern thing, because the shows I’ve watched of pageants in other parts of the country do look brutal.

But its kind of a way of life here in the south, and its more about demanding respect rather than being judged for your beauty. It’s not a prettiness competition, but a battle of wits and composure. There’s interviews and sometimes essays and projects. It’s not ALL walking on a stage in a dress. That would take 30 minutes, pageants take days.

SOMEONE STOLE MY TARDIS BIKE!

So some dickbag, jerkface, assbutt decided to steal my bike tonight, which is pretty much the worst bike to steal because it’s a custom-made TARDIS. At least this increases my chances of finding it again. So please, please, please help me! I use this bike to get around everywhere, to the store, to uni, to my friends! So please, REBLOG this!
